About us

The Amputees & Families Support Group QLD Inc is a non-profit organisation founded in 1986 by amputees who felt alone and isolated after they first lost their limb(s).  After placing an advertisement in the local newspaper, the first Amputee & Families Support Group Qld Inc meeting was held.  The need for an organisation came with the development of a more solid group, the vision shared by the group initially was to provide support to the amputees alone, however, with the maturing of the organisation the founders group discovered that they could also help families, friends and supporters of amputees within the local community.

The founding groups vision was to provide singular support and encouragement to amputees and their families from pre-amputation through to rehabilitation and beyond.  The need of the amputees for assistance to integrate this traumatic change into their everyday lifestyle (personal, professional and recreational) was determined.

The Amputees & Families Support Group QLD Inc is dedicated to providing relevant basic (and advanced) needs to amputees, their families, friends, carers and information to the wider community.
