The Amputees & Families Support Group Qld Inc was established in October 1986 by a dedicated group of amputees who felt alone and isolated when they first lost their limb(s) and were trying to accept and integrate this change into their personal, professional and recreational lives.

Today our network of support groups and peer support volunteers are available to assist all amputees and people living with a limb difference, their family, friends and carers to find helpful and relevant information in Queensland.

The Amputees & Families Support Group Qld Inc. is a non-profit, self-help community organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting the needs of amputees and their family, friends and carers.

Our aim is to ensure that nobody goes through limb loss alone and that everybody has access to the information and support they require to move towards reaching their maximum potential.

We provide a range of services and activities available to individuals, families and the wider amputee and limb different community.

Our services include:

  • Peer support
  • Information relevant to limb loss or limb difference
  • Social outings, events and workshops
  • Youth group activities
  • Short term hire equipment
  • NDIS and My Aged Care assistance and information
  • Advocacy
